Here are the results of our first official tournament!
Thanks to everyone who participated in our first official Redemption tournament in Roanoke, VA. We had a good tournament, with six participants, four of whom had never been in an official tournament before. This was a Type 1-2 Player tournament. Much thanks goes to the Farmer family, who provided a spectacular facility for us to use for the tournament. Keith Farmer helps run Straight Street, a youth center in Roanoke, where where held the tournament. It is a huge facility that has great Redemption-sized tables with padded chairs, a cafeteria for drinks and snacks, and for between games: big screen TV, pool tables, air hockey, video games, and foosball tables. Talk about having a tournament in style! Three members of the Acree family participated, Ryland II (dad), Michelle (mom) and Ryland III (son). Eric, Jeremy and Carson were also playing. In round one, Eric played Jeremy, Momma Acree played Carson, and Father and Son Acree were playing against each other. Due to a misunderstanding about how place cards are played, Father Acree's deck had no defense, but fortunately this was discovered right at the beginning of the round and he swapped out for a starter deck. Eric, Momma Acree, and Son Acree won before time expired in the first round. In round two, Eric was matched up against Ryland the Son, Momma and Poppa Acree played each other and Jeremy and Carson played. It was a blow-out in Ryland's game against Eric, who drew lots of LS's and no defense. Jeremy also won his match before time was called, but Poppa Acree managed to run out the clock on Momma Acree, denying her a full three game points for her win, and scoring a game point himself. In round three, all the games were hard fought. The top scorers, Momma and Son Acree were matched up. Eric and Jeremy were the next highest in game points, but they had already played in the first round, so Eric played Carson and Jeremy played Poppa Acree. Ryland the Son came up with the first win of this round, locking in his first place finish, but second and third were very much in contention. Jeremy won his match against Poppa Acree to earn 6 game points. Eric had edged out Carson when time was called with 4-3 in a hard fought match. The final standings were:
Ryland III took home a Harvest Time promo card and three booster packs of his choice. He took one Apostles pack and pulled a "Guardian of Our Souls" out of it! He also grabbed a Priests and one more Apostles Jeremy took home two booster packs of his choice, and also a Redemption tournament poster. Congratulations to everyone on their great attitudes and the spirit of fun and fellowship!
